Abstract: Neurorehabilitation (NR) is beset by many emerging challenges. Demographic change, increases in non-communicative diseases (NCDs), disengagement of the workforce, and skyrocketing costs render the current state of NR unsustainable. Decentralised therapy delivery approaches such as telerehabilitation and AI models offer a potential solution, however the healthcare data ecosystem is fragmented and siloed, handicapping the creation of AI models for NR. HealthCore is a microservice-based hub-and-spoke system that enables the continuous collection of unified, high density, digital data during NR, independent of the therapy situation. In this talk, I will introduce the challenges and pitfalls in designing, deploying and maintaining unified data collection solutions within the NR environment. I will showcase how HealthCore addresses these challenges and give an outlook of how AI models can be used to optimise the delivery of NR for each individual case. Assessing and tracking these biomarkers over time within routine care provides a data foundation for understanding and predicting who will respond in what manner to injury and intervention.
